The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has adopted a proposal to amend the Labour Market Regulation Act. It introduces significant changes related to pensioners’ work and unemployment benefits. These measures are aimed at improving the functioning of the labour market and expanding individual rights.
Key Updates in the Proposal
- Higher Unemployment Benefits
The minimum unemployment benefit will be increased to 70% of the gross minimum wage. The maximum amount will initially be capped at 130% of the minimum wage and will gradually decrease to 80%. - Increased Allowable Workload for Retired Persons
The permitted number of hours for temporary or occasional work by pensioners will increase from 60 to 85 hours per month. Correspondingly, the annual income limit from such work will also be raised. - Stricter Conditions for Temporary Work Agencies
Tighter rules will apply to the operation of employment agencies that provide temporary workers. - Possibility to Refuse Referrals to Employers
The Employment Service will have the authority to refuse to refer workers to an employer who has received a formal warning in administrative proceedings. This also applies if the employer is subject to an offence procedure by the Labour Inspectorate or the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia. - Incentives for Hiring Older Workers
The amendment includes new incentives aimed at extending working life, including support for employing individuals over the age of 59.
