The new version of the Standard Classification of Activities (SKD 2025) will come into effect on 1 January 2025, replacing the currently valid SKD 2008. The change is driven by the need to adjust to structural changes in the economy. The most significant updates are expected in the areas of trade and information and communication activities.
SKD is a mandatory national standard for classifying business entities and their activities in official and administrative databases. It is also crucial for statistical and analytical purposes at both national and international levels. When registering a business, activities are recorded in the Business Register of Slovenia. This register includes both the primary and additional activities of individual entities.
What’s Changing with SKD 2025?
- Automatic Updates by AJPES: In cases where a direct match exists between the activities listed in SKD 2008 and the new SKD 2025 (1:1 or N:1 principle), AJPES will automatically update the data.
- More Complex Changes: In cases where one activity is split into multiple new categories, business entities will need to provide the correct data manually via the AJPES online portal.
- Main Activity Changes: Entities whose main activity no longer corresponds to their actual operations will need to submit a change request by established procedures. These adjustments can be made through the SPOT electronic platform or by visiting a SPOT physical location.
Key Points for Businesses
- If your business activity no longer aligns with the new classification, you will need to notify the authorities via the established process.
- Updates and adjustments can be made electronically or in person, depending on the situation.
