How to declare foreign income

If a taxpayer does not declare foreign income during the year, foreign income must be declared in an objection against the preliminary tax calculation. However, if the undeclared income received from abroad is the taxpayer’s only source of income, the taxpayer will not receive the preliminary tax calculation and must file a declaration for the annual income tax assessment.

The Financial Administration automatically obtains data within the framework of international data exchange about income that residents of the Republic of Slovenia have earned abroad. By declaring this income in interim declarations for the assessment of income tax advance payments, in objections against the preliminary tax calculation, or the declaration for the annual income tax assessment, taxpayers can avoid both fines and potential complications in claiming tax benefits they are entitled to.
